12+ Looks of Christmas: Jingle Bell Frock

Lady in reeeeed!
It was a total love at first sight moment with this red pleated dress from H&M I convinced my mother to buy for as part of my Christmas goodies. The fabric is thick enough to fight the winter wind and looks a lot for expensive that $14.95! It’s not available online or I would’ve provided a link, cross your fingers and head to your closest H&M location.

I accessorized with this beautiful vintage jewelry from Hot Mama Vintage, a Simpson’s Three-Strand Necklace & Earring Set. The pearl and aurora borealis beads add that perfect holiday sparkle to this formal look.

And I of course threw on my trusty pair of Dollarama fishnet stockings that I’m OBSESSED with. Best $2 I’ve spent all year!

12+ Looks of Christmas: Cool Yule

It’s Monday and time for another round of holiday looks. I’m starting off this week with a dressed up collared shirt I purchased on a thrift hunt a few weeks ago. It’s a Ralph Lauren (bonus!) plaid print shirt that I don’t think had ever been worn before (double bonus)! What could be an ordinary shirt-jeans and vest combo I made my own with the addition of a glittery necklace, patterned stockings and bright platform pumps.

The stockings are a new cheap but chic find of mine from Dollarama. They come in a variety of designs and could fit anyone up to a size 20 comfortably. I’m so impressed by the durability and stretch in these, especially for $2/pair.

I wanted a pop of fun colour with the red heel which could easily be switched for a black boot to keep the overall look more edgy. It really just depends on your mood and more importantly your comfort level. Deciding to stomp around in a pair of shoes that make you want to scream with each step just isn’t worth it for me. I call those shoes the in and out – I only really walk in them getting in and out of the car to dinner and there’s a pair of flats waiting for me in the car.

12+ Looks Of Christmas: Oh Haute-y Night

TGIF Fashionistas!

This weekend marks the official start to holiday parties, dinners and dates for many and what better way to start it all off than with a fun holiday look with a touch of fur. This look was inspired by fashion from the 1940’s &  50’s, incorporating some of my modern sexy appeal with platform heels and a midriff cut-out. I added some primary pops of colour to the deep tones of the rust wool jacket and bodycon dress with red matte lips and blue suede shoes.

I topped it off with a brown-black mink hat to help fight off the winter weather and of course for the flare. This hat could be pulled down further but with my big dome and thick hair I kept it just on the crown for this look.

I hate the cold but I absolutely LOVE holiday fashion and I know many of you do too. It’s a time to dress up a little more, try out more bold looks and add some cheer to your look. This is one of those times of the year where everyone’s in selfie-mode overload so always be prepared this season by putting your most stylish foot forward!

12+ Looks of Christmas: Perfectly Paisley

Happy Holidays Fashionistas – did you miss me?

I hope you did, because I certainly missed creating looks to inspire you and your closets. I started off shooting a holiday look special with 12 looks I created from items from my closet as well as my vintage clothing store Hot Mama Vintage. Well 12 turned into a lot more than 12 so get ready for a lot of holiday looks for the office, lunch with the ladies as well as those extra special nights on the town for Christmas 2014.

Today’s look is a casual look dressed up with some nude cut-out heels, rep lips and a polished belt to tie it all together. I found this top last week while thrift shopping and gravitated towards it initially for the paisley design but the mandarin collar and hi-cut sides are what made me fall in love with this piece. The coat is also a thrift find from the fall, the mustard colour and slightly padded shoulders are so classic, I’ve worn this about a zillion times already the past few months. I refuse to get stuck in dreary colours because the sun and heat have gone into hiding – I still mix and match up warm tones in my looks to keep me cheery and my looks from going blah.  And if you’re wondering where I got my bright green nail polish from it’s called ‘Posh’ by Revlon.

I looove a good thrift find – I scored this velvet slit skirt from my local salvation army for $2! Tip: Check your local thrift stores for weekly sales on particular items they are trying to get rid of. The Salvation Army has sale specials every week so get on their mailing list for a head’s up on when to drop in and go EARLY!

This look has a witch feel with the velvet skirt, turtleneck and boots covering most with just peaks of skin. I wore my gold chandelier earrings and a gorgeous gold cuff with blue jewels for added drama. It’s a fun look with a mysterious dramatic flair.

Goth Angel

Happy Monday Fashion lovers! This week I’ll be doing a series of goth-inspired looks in the spirit of Halloween. Today’s look is an all white sexy look topped with dark tough elements like the boots, vest and spiked necklace. I’m still trying to figure out what I’m doing for Halloween (if anything), luckily I’ve got a costume ready to go. If I’m headed anywhere I’ll be posting pics for sure, if not, there’s always next year lol. As the years go on, the enthusiasm for holidays sometimes depletes and that’s okay. Just don’t rain on other’s parades who enjoy the festivities. Hope you enjoy this look!
